Mesh network

We have established in the cooperation with the Municipality of Laško the Wireless Mesh network in the Laško city centre, which represents one of the most advanced Wi-Fi networks (Mesh) and is one of the first projects of its kind in Slovenia. In adition to the network also a www.lasko.si portal has been made.

Mesh network is a network in a real sense and is different from individual hotspots, which are already in use in some cities. Mesh networks represent the basic communication infrastructure, which will allow not only free internet use, but also serve to support public services, the economy, and allowing unrestricted movement of users within the network.The network is covering most of the city center, the users can log on with notebooks, PDAs and mobile phones.

Portal Laško Wi-Fi is a complement to the existing Web site www.lasko.si and is adapted to all characteristics of mobile devices. You will find all the news and announcements from the municipal administration, as well as all news about the rest of the events in the municipality of Lasko and their local communities together with all the basic tourist information.

One of the world's leading manufacturers of wireless equipment- Tropos routers were used in this project. There are currently seven routers deployed.

The Municipality of Laško took an important step forward in providing the information infrastructure. With the installation of "Mesh" wireless network primarily the wireless Internet access to tourists, travelers and residents is enabled. Also a basis for further development of services offered by mesh networks is being set: the management of funds, supplement to the communication infrastructure of public services, data collection....
